PROGRAMME

WELCOME2DECA,

Drifted 2 is a poignant reminder to us all, of the kinship we often neglect while processing our own grief, that grief is a personal and collective journey because we remain connected so deeply, no matter how hard we try and shield people from our pain. Honouring the legacies left behind of those who’ve moved on before us, we choose to celebrate their lives through our dance.

Every intergenerational production holds so much identity and weight, and this year is no different. The process taken in co-creating this work allows for us to form beautiful friendships that magnifies the chemistry on stage. Our seniors and kids have been super troopers and the DECA team couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them: for shining so brightly as who they are, while growing into such multi-dimensional performers and team players.

I hope this work relates to you as much as it did for us. Your presence fuels our craft, and we look forward to bringing more stories to life on stage, for you.

-Edwin

SYNOPSIS

Drifted 2 tenderly explores the ways we navigate life’s most difficult conversations: those about death, memory, and letting go. Inspired by Tom Tinn-Disbury’s Lost in the Clouds, this refreshed edition brings together dancers from Decadance Co, decak!ds, and decasilver seniors in a moving intergenerational dialogue. Through dance, Drifted 2 celebrates love that continues beyond goodbye — a reminder that understanding loss is not about endings, but about learning how to hold on differently.
